Homeless In Fargo ND

The Homeless rate in Fargo ND has only gone up. In the FM area 1050 people are homeless 100 of which sleep on the street every night due to limited space. from 2023 to 2024 a 5% increase in homeless was recorded. This is unacceptable in a city like Fargo ND, it is dangerous. These people are sleeping in the rain, snow and cold. This is extremely dangerous and can be deadly.

I care so much about the Homeless because of my previous job. I worked with people who faced the consequences of homelessness and addiction. We have people committing crimes because jail is a better more comfortable place than our streets.

It is easy for someone to see homeless and ask why don’t they get a job? It is not that simple, in order to get a job someone needs to have an ID and an address. You cannot maintain a job without a permanent address. The city needs to be doing more for these people to help them get an ID and address.

We need to have more beds than homeless in Fargo ND, we are currently short and as the number of homeless grows the number of people sleeping on the streets increase. A person can use the address of the shelters as an address for a job. If we can provide everyone with a place we can accelerate the integration back into our community.
